We thought it would be nice to give you a little preview of what to expect at training camp. Sometimes being a little more “in the know” can take the edge off of unnecessary anxiety about the unknown!

Sleeping Arrangements:

Among the first things you’ll notice coming into training camp are the tents. All over the place! This will be your home away from home for the first two weeks of your trip. These lovely cozy quarters provide ample opportunity to get close to your teammates and provide shelter from the elements at night.

Meeting & Eating Place:

A huge tent…..and I’m talking REALLY HUGE….will serve as the dining and meeting area and will look somewhat like the picture….only bigger! And this picture doesn’t even do that tent justice!

One of the training camps this summer, we got a rip in the tent and this is Jeremy fixing it for us.  He thought that was cool to be able to go up so high and fix it.  He was the only one light enough to crawl up on top and fix it without taking it down.

Bathrooms:

A lot of people wonder….where are the bathrooms? Yes, the picture is very much a representation of one of the luxuries of life. Remember, not every location that you may be going to will have even these niceties. Never fear, though….we do have people who come and take care of them during the week, so that shouldn’t be too much of a “smelly” issue.

Showers:

Another thing people wonder about is what we Americans consider a need in life…..a shower! At training camp, you will have the wonderful privilege of using outdoor showers! Now, before you freak out, let me explain! There will be separate showers for the guys and gals.
But they are outdoors. They are constructed to ensure privacy! Your shower head will actually resemble more of a garden hose with a sprayer on the end...because that
is what it is! And depending on time of day and the weather….well, let’s just say you should go in expecting it to be on the cooler side but feel blessed if it’s warmer that what you thought it would be!

Near the showers will be a place to brush your teeth (running water provided). Sorry, no picture of that!
Just imagine a chest high trough with water running and you’ll have a fairly good mental picture!

Now that we’ve covered the basics of where you’ll be sleeping, eating, and taking care of your personal needs, let’s move on to what else you can expect at training camp!

There will also be times when you will be learning things about yourself from personality tests and team building exercises. These are designed to help you know how your team works together. The team building exercises will allow you to get to know one another on a different level than you have through your correspondence before training camp.
All are designed to allow you to get to know one anther better and begin to bond together as a team before you arrive at your final destination!

Your meeting areas can vary from activity to activity. Several structures, like the ones in the pictures, offer shade, a place to sit, and a rustic view of the scene.

Drama:

At training camp you will learn dramas as a team that you will be able to use the whole time you are at your location.
We hire well trained instructors to teach the top of the art drimes. (Drama put to music)

Relationship with God:

Every morning you will have time alone with God.
Use this time to Journal and strengthen your relationship with Him.
You will have to find places to spend with Him, you will not have a comfy couch or chair, but the great outdoors and hot, hot weeather.

Well, there you have it….the lowdown on training camp. There are many details that we’ve left out, but for the most part this should give you a good idea of what to expect.
